Amid the recovery stage of the nation’s costliest disaster, LeBron James & Co. paid their respect to the real heroes. The first responders, without thinking twice about the severity of the threat involved in the wildfire, jumped straight into action, attempting to put out the dangers and save lives.

Even though the efforts took a toll on the state’s treasury, they’ve managed to pull it off with few casualties. While all took a breather, the officials casually dropped a hammer, saying that we missed another tragedy by a whisker.

There isn’t any clarity on the cause behind the wildfire yet. But at the same time, the strong Santa Ana winds were the reason behind fanning the flames into a wildfire.

Several regions, including Pacific Palisades, were caught under the fire and the officials brought it under control. But on Saturday, things could’ve gotten out of hand again at Palisades with the potential arrival of another stretch of strong winds.

County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath said, “had another night of unimaginable terror and heartbreak, and even more Angelenos evacuated due to the northeast expansion of the Palisades Fire,” as per AP News.

However, the firefighters rushed to the spot and contained the fire with the help of helicopters that dropped water on the area and ground responders. Parallelly, the Lakers extended their support, symbolically paying tribute to the heroes by wearing ‘Thank you First Responders’ on the back of their practice shirts.

Moreover, the National Weather Service has warned the officials that the strong Santa Ana winds might return. While these winds fanned the flames into a wildfire initially, the upcoming wind could turn wildfire into an inferno. Above all, the Saturday alert could have gotten worse, as the fire would have spread across the densely populated Hollywood Hills and San Fernando Valley.

The Lakers fold indeed would have understood the importance of first responders. The team’s head coach JJ Redick had his family evacuated amid the alarming situation, while he was drawing up plays for his team in Texas.

On the other hand, the officials reported that so far 11 casualties were reported and the numbers are surely kept under check because of the timely evacuation.

So far, the fire has consumed 56 square miles, which is bigger than the size of San Francisco and more than 12,000 structures took a hit. The estimated expense to bring things back to normal would be between $135 billion and $150 billion, as per AccuWeather.

The Lakers have their next three games scheduled in LA. The league has already postponed tonight’s game against the Spurs. So, until the league clears, we won’t be witnessing the LakeShow in action until next week.

Looking at the league’s latest statement, the NBA is more focused on the ending disaster than the game. In the statement, the league mentioned, “The game postponements ensure no resources will be diverted from the wildfire response efforts.”

The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association donated $1 million as immediate aid to various groups, working on the ground to support the affected people. What do you make of the Lakers and NBA’s symbolic gesture? Most importantly, are you safe?
