Though The Whoopi Goldberg War Room™ was not even CLOSE to engaging in threat-monitoring mode, a little puppy named Aladdin still refused to join the set of the talk show after actress Bryce Dallas Howard attempted to bring him out for an interview with a cat-wielding Goldberg.

The actress appeared Friday on the talk show to promote her new Disney+ documentary Pets, and brought along several irresistibly cute critters to sit through her chat about the project — but, Aladdin got out while he still could, perhaps when he caught a glimpse of the show’s cohosts holding on to their kitty companions throughout the discussion.

After Goldberg gave Howard an introduction while clutching a cat, the camera cut to the Jurassic World star walking out from backstage with six-month-old Aladdin on a leash, though the pooch pulled back before making it out toward the panelists.

“I don’t want him to come in if he’s scared! One second!” Howard exclaimed, holding her finger up before turning around, jogging back to the show’s pre-interview holding area, and returning without Aladdin.

When Howard made it safely to her chair, Goldberg told the audience that the animals appeared on behalf of the Best Friends Animal Society, before the group interviewed Howard about the documentary, which chronicles pet owners’ stories of adoption, love, and loss.

Later during the discussion, a rogue cat attempted to climb up cohost Sara Haines’ shoulder, while one being held by Sunny Hostin tried to verbally join the conversation multiple times.

Haines also revealed that, when it comes to her past (deceased) pets, she loved them so much that her own human children “think I carried them in my womb,” while Ana Navarro announced that her iconic dog ChaCha Navarro-Cárdenas’ “pronouns are bitch and princess.”

The talk show has long incorporated pets into its segments, with conservative panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin even using her 2023 birthday episode to highlight animals in need of adoption.

When it comes to other kinds of animals, though, Goldberg has recently made it abundantly clear that under no circumstances does she want the dodo bird to be resurrected from extinction.

“They say they’ve got their eye on resurrecting the woolly mammoth. Why? And the dodo bird. Why!?” Goldberg said on Tuesday’s live show during a Hot Topics chat about scientists resurrecting the dire wolf. “Now, are you on board with this, or did the movie Jurassic Park tell you what was happening and you’re wondering why the hell are we doing this?”
