NBA – Spurs Shocking Reveal: “Will Trade Wemby Because He’s Too Skinny”

NBA Victor Wembanyama aux Spurs

As we know, a franchise can only go far with a good team, but also a quality front office. San Antonio demonstrated this during its dynasty and with the draft of Victor Wembanyama… However, a recent revelation has freaked out Texan fans.

It is a real luxury for a franchise to have a player around whom it can build for the next decade, if not more.

This kind of profile is rare and unsurprisingly, the management is doing everything to keep him as long as possible.

Victor Wembanyama should also benefit from such treatment at the Spurs.

For a long time, we believed that it would be the same thing for Luka Doncic at the Mavericks… until the latter shocked the entire world by sending their superstar to the Lakers.

A resounding transfer that no one saw coming, while the Slovenian had been at the heart of the Texan project since his debut in the big league in 2018.

Unsurprisingly, the fans are angry… and their target is all found.

The controversial Nico Harrison almost recruited by the Spurs?

Indeed, GM Nico Harrison immediately became public enemy number 1 in Dallas, especially since he publicly criticized Doncic in the days following the trade.

But the former Nike employee might never have joined the Mavs… because as The Athletic revealed, San Antonio had shown interest in him long before that:

In 2016, the Spurs considered adding Nico Harrison, the same GM everyone blames for trading Luka Dončić, to their front office after losing assistant GMs Sean Marks and Scott Layden.

However, he stayed at Nike, where he rose from a sports marketing rep to a senior Nike executive, earning the trust of Kobe Bryant and identifying future stars.

He built a strong relationship with the Spurs, working with Tony Parker and Bruce Bowen, but didn’t break into the league until Mark Cuban brought him to Dallas in 2021.

Spurs insider Jeff Garcia made it clear on X that the Texans may have avoided shooting themselves in the foot by not adding Harrison to their roster.

Judging by the scathing reactions from fans, they agree:

@YafengWang328: Since he traded Luka because he’s too big, I guess it’s possible he’ll trade Wemby because he’s too skinny 😂

@DJ_B_RADICAL: I’d call that a bombshell, not a bullet.

@ichillz23416204: Thank God 🙏🙏🙏🙏 lol

In 2016, the Spurs needed to recruit new leaders and Nico Harrison had been on their radar for a while.

In the end, he didn’t join them… and that’s not to displease the fans after the saga surrounding Luka Doncic.
