NBA – After Wembanyama’s disqualification, Draymond Green says: “In his defense, he has…
Present at the Skills Challenge this Saturday night, Victor Wembanyama was eliminated with Chris Paul in the first round after trying a new strategy. And Draymond Green made an interesting revelation about the Frenchman after the controversy.
Back Sunday night for the big night of the All-Star Weekend, Victor Wembanyama did not have a good Saturday.
He was present with Chris Paul for the Skills Challenge and… ended up being disqualified in the first round.
He thought he had found a way to gain time, but the NBA did not like it and made it known immediately.
The reactions are very mixed on social networks. Some are crying scandal, while others are angry at the two players for not taking the tournament seriously.
And yet, by finding this way to finish with the best time, Wemby and Paul showed an energy that is quite rare for this tournament and welcome.
Draymond Green in support of Victor Wembanyama
And while the commentators assumed that CP3 was behind this decision, it was actually Wembanyama.
He confirmed it in a press conference immediately afterwards, as did… Draymond Green.
He explains that the Frenchman tested his theory by asking several officials and all of them confirmed that he had the right to do so. Strange.
Draymond Green on Victor Wembanyama: “What I can say is that Wemby was all over the floor asking everyone.
They told him: ‘Make a three-pointer or you have to try three times.’ So he said, ‘Oh, so I can just shoot like that?’ and they said, ‘Yep!’ So he asked… but did he ask the right people? (laughs)”
“But in his defense, he asked a lot of people, at least 5 or 6, saying ‘are you sure I can just throw the ball?’ so yeah… But it was Wembanyama’s decision.
Chris Paul was trying real shots in practice while Victor was just throwing the balls.
The old guy followed the rookie by jumping off the cliff (laughs).”
So it was indeed Wembanyama’s decision, which unfortunately didn’t pay off.
Too bad for the Frenchman, especially since he wanted to cover his back by asking a lot of people.
Did the NBA intervene or did he ask the wrong officials? Stay tuned.
Draymond Green reports some valuable information in this story and confirms that Victor Wembanyama did indeed have the green light to proceed in this way at the Skills Challenge. A bizarre saga for sure.
