Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s collaborative album $ome $exy $ongs 4 U is out, and fans have had a lot to say about it.
$ome $exy $ongs 4 U was released on Valentine’s Day and has a 74-minute runtime.
The album being dropped came mere days after Kendrick Lamar performed at Super Bowl LIX and finished his set by playing ‘Not Like Us,’ which is a diss to the Canadian rapper that calls him a pedophile.
An X user believes something strange is happening with the album behind the scenes because the project is allegedly “underperforming.”
“🚨 Something shady is happening with Drake’s new album, and as a lawyer, I can’t ignore the legal implications. His latest project, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, is mysteriously underperforming despite his proven track record,” a post stated.
2/ This is happening at the same time as Drake’s legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify. He’s accused them of artificially inflating Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us streams through bots and payola. And now his album isn’t getting normal exposure? The timing is…”
3/ The industry has a long history of labels pushing certain artists while sidelining others. The question is—why would UMG and Spotify turn against Drake of all people? 🤔 The answer likely lies in money, power, and control over the narrative…”
4/ Legally, if a label or streaming service manipulates an artist’s numbers or suppresses their work, this could be tortious interference: a serious claim. If Drake can prove that his label or Spotify intentionally hurt his album’s reach, he might have a solid case.”
5/ This isn’t just about Drake. It’s about the entire music industry and whether platforms and labels have the power to decide who succeeds and who disappears. When streaming numbers can be manipulated, is anyone’s success even real???”
6/ The situation with $ome $exy $ongs 4 U needs serious scrutiny. Whether you like Drake or not, this case could expose how labels and streaming giants really operate behind the scenes. If true, it’s not just unethical, it IS illegal.”
7/ This is the biggest artist in the world facing what looks like an intentional blackout. Imagine what happens to smaller artists without the platform or resources to fight back. What do you think, industry politics or something deeper?”
8/ Drake is going to win this. Why? Because if UMG & Spotify manipulated his album’s visibility, it’s tortious interference, which courts have ruled against before. This isn’t just music politics; it’s a business sabotage case…”
9/ Labels & platforms owe artists a duty of fair dealing, especially when they profit off them. If Drake proves UMG boosted competitors while limiting his reach, that’s an unfair business practice. Courts have ruled against similar corporate manipulations.”
10/ Remember Jay-Z’s Tidal vs. Apple dispute? Apple allegedly tried to block 4:44’s promotion due to competition. Legal threats forced Apple to back down. Drake’s case is bigger, if he exposes label-streaming collusion, it’s a major industry scandal.”
11/ UMG won’t risk a full trial. Discovery could expose internal emails proving album suppression—a PR disaster. Expect them to settle quietly, just like Kesha’s lawsuit with Dr. Luke, where leaked docs shook the industry.”
12/ Drake wins because the truth is bigger than him. If labels & streaming services can silence their biggest star, what happens to smaller artists? This case could set a legal precedent on platform neutrality. And that’s exactly why UMG will fold.”

The highly-anticipated joint album between Drake and PartyNextDoor is setting records on Apple Music following its Valentine’s Day release.
After dropping on Friday, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U started to explode as it has broken the record for the biggest R&B/soul album in Apple Music’s history by first-day streams worldwide.
This marks Drake’s first full album since 2023’s For All the Dogs. It is also his biggest project since his beef with Kendrick Lamar, a war that many fans believe he lost by a wide margin.
As we can see, it did not hurt too much.
