Abandoned Dog Found with ‘Free’ and ‘Good Home Just’ Written all over her body

A 5-month-old dog found with “free” and “good home only” permanently written on her fur has found a new home.

According to the Ross County Humane Society, officers were called to Yuktangi Park on the evening of May 24 for an abandoned dog in a box. The dog was taken to the humane society for evaluation and was eventually named Marvella, which means “marvel at the miracle.”

On Wednesday, less than a week after she was discovered, she was adopted by a family in the Chillicothe area. According to Jane Thomas, director of the Ross County Humane Society, the Ross County Humane Society received nearly 90 adoption requests for the dog from across the country.

According to a press release from the humane society, Marvella was bathed to remove as much of the marking as possible, along with vaccinations, treats and affection.

Marvella is playing at the Ross County Humane Society after she was discovered May 24 with the permanent marking on her fur.

Thomas believes this case will teach the public that giving up a dog is not an option for an owner who is unable to care for a dog.

“Marvella and the other 1,200 dogs who come to the shelter each year are incredibly fortunate to have great programs to help them,” Thomas added. “Many of the free dogs that are given away on Craigslist or by other individuals are used as bait dogs in dog fighting rings, medical tests, or other suitable homes.”

Marvella, a 5-month-old dog who was discovered with permanent markings on her fur, was adopted by the Ross County Humane Society on Wednesday morning.

The application process includes a series of questions about the dog’s behavior and health to check her suitability for adoption, as well as a $50 surrender fee, which can be waived in certain situations, according to Thomas.

You can use social media to find local shelters and pet rescue centers, as well as the Humane Society.

Unfortunately, Thomas claimed that what happened to Marvella was not the worst thing that has ever happened to a dog.

“There are always other options,” she said. “They may not be easy alternatives, but there are always better alternatives.”

The Humane Society fosters hundreds of pets each year, including Marvella. Learn more about the Humane Society or visit its website to make a gift.
