Fans Angered After Chicago Sky Announced Major Trade

The Chicago Sky made a major trade with the Washington Mystics on Sunday amid their bid to field a playoff contender in the 2025 season. However, several fans were not happy with the deal.

Chicago acquired two-time All-Star Ariel Atkins from Washington, but the team had to give up the No. 3 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Furthermore, the Mystics also got the Sky’s 2027 second-round pick and the right to swap first-round picks in the same year.

While Atkins’ addition certainly gives the Sky a big boost, especially with her two-way ability, the Sky faithful didn’t like the fact that the team traded the No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft.

After the Sky posted about the trade and welcomed Atkins to the team, fans took to the comment section to express their disappointment.

“I been saying fire the GM. Why would you give up the 3rd pick? Jeff needs to go,” a commenter wrote, referring to Chicago GM Jeff Pagliocca. Another one argued, “Giving up the 3rd while Carter is unsigned for an ok guard is insane to me.”

“This was not worth the 3rd pick,” an angry fan exclaimed.

“Yall gave away the third pick, didn’t resign Carter, fired spoon [expletive] yall gone do stupid next,” a disappointed follower shared without hesitation.

“Respectfully….this sucks,” a disappointed supporter added.

A sixth poster stated, “Gave up too much. Too..damn.. much.”

For what it’s worth, while plenty of fans didn’t like the move, Sky All-Star Angel Reese had a different opinion and appeared to be excited about Chicago’s trade for Ariel Atkins.

Whether or not the move will pay off remains to be seen, but sure enough, plenty of eyes will be on Atkins and how he will make an impact in Chicago.
