If you ask who is better: Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes? People will have different opinions. But if we actually look at their respective NFL careers, Brady has more awards and rings than Mahomes. So, does that mean Brady is better? Well, it’s too early to come to a conclusion. It’s because if we look at the stats, it gives us a different picture. TB12 lags behind the 29-year-old in terms of regular-season completion percentage – which is 66.5% for Mahomes and 64.3% for Brady.

In addition to that, Tom Brady is also behind Patrick Mahomes in average yards per game – Brady is at 266.3, while Mahomes is at 288.9. Furthermore, the passer rate too tells Mahomes (105.8) is better than Brady’s 97.2. And of course, how can we forget the yards per rushing attempt record? Brady is at 0.0, while Mahomes again is one step ahead from him with 5.2. So, now try to guess who’s better? Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes. Meanwhile, let us tell you that the NBA legend LeBron James has come up with his own verdict.

In a DraftKings clip on X, LeBron James recently addressed the Tom Brady vs Patrick Mahomes debate. And guess what? For him, “Pat Mahomes is obviously one of the greatest ever to play the sport.” Yes! James thinks Mahomes is the greatest ever. Now that could upset Brady’s fans for sure. But wait, it doesn’t mean James missed TB12’s legacy. The NBA star made sure to honor Brady as well, by saying, “You wouldn’t be wrong if you said Pat Mahomes was your number one for greatest quarterbacks of all time. You wouldn’t be wrong if you said Brady. It’s just two guys that transcended the sport. Two guys that are just amazing.”

In this way, LeBron James opted for both as the best in their own ways, giving a bit of upper hand to the Chiefs‘s QB. No doubt that the NFL has produced two great quarterbacks in the form of Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. But the Los Angeles Lakers icon picking up Mahomes puzzled many. So, why did he name Mahomes the greatest?

Well, giving the reasons behind it, the NBA star continued, “He [Patrick Mahomes] can do everything. He can throw the ball in the pocket. He can go three-step drops. He can go five-step drops. He can roll out on scrambles and make passes. He can throw sidearm. He can throw cross body. You know, the NFL rule is don’t throw across the field or throw across your body. He’s an exception to the rule because of how great he is.” So, now we know why James thinks Mahomes is a star of the NFL.

But surprisingly, James didn’t stop there. He compared Patrick Mahomes’s career trajectory to his own. This is evident in what he said next: “I think the best parallel that I would say between Pat Mahomes and myself in our first seven years is that we just kind of just changed the way we, you know, you kind of view the game. He’s doing a h–l of a lot better than I did in my first seven years. I think that he got, what, three chips already?

Mahomes is aiming to achieve 3-peat this year. And if this happens, he would surely be considered as one of the best QBs in the NFL, at least if not better than Brady. Until then, like LeBron James, many have their own perspectives on this likely forever-ongoing debate.

Last year in August, Tom Brady joined show host, Stephen A. Smith, on his show, and talked about the young players as well as Patrick Mahomes. During the discussion, he pointed out that he believes rushing into a starting role can hurt the rookies’s growth. He said this because, back in his day, Brady had time to develop without the pressure of starting immediately. Therefore, he thinks that kind of patience is missing now. As a result, according to him, the players are having difficulty in improving year after year. The host then asked him about Patrick Mahomes. And what he said next was unexpected!

TB12 mentioned, “I think he would be better. He’s already great. Believe me, he’s, in my opinion, the best quarterback in the NFL.” Tom Brady hailed Mahomes better than him. Why? Well, it’s the leadership quality of Mahomes that has really impressed Brady. He admires the way Mahomes connects with his coaches, teammates, and how he presents himself both on and off-the-field.
