In a stunning revelation, Attorney General Pam Bondi detailed the shocking and unprecedented actions of Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan prior to her arrest, describing the incident as something “you just can’t make up.”
Speaking on “America Reports,” Bondi outlined how Judge Dugan allegedly assisted an illegal immigrant, Flores Ruiz, to evade federal immigration authorities during a courthouse hearing. Flores Ruiz, previously deported from the United States in 2013, was facing serious charges for domestic violence—accused of severely assaulting two individuals, leaving both hospitalized.
Bondi vividly recounted the events: Upon learning Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were present at the courthouse to apprehend Flores Ruiz, Judge Dugan reportedly became visibly angry and confrontational. Rather than cooperate with law enforcement, Bondi explained that Judge Dugan chose to actively obstruct justice.
“Judge Dugan actually escorted Flores Ruiz and his lawyer out of the courtroom through a private jury door into a restricted area of the courthouse,” Bondi stated, clearly disturbed by the incident. “What followed was a chaotic and dangerous foot chase through public areas of the courthouse and onto the street.”
According to federal prosecutors, this unprecedented chase culminated near the intersection of West State Street and 10th Street, where ICE agents finally apprehended Ruiz. Bondi emphasized the seriousness of the judge’s actions, highlighting that her interference endangered not only the officers involved but also innocent bystanders.
“She put our law enforcement officers’ lives at risk. She put innocent civilians at risk. This kind of reckless disregard for the law from someone who is supposed to uphold it is simply beyond belief,” Bondi stressed, her tone clearly reflecting frustration and disbelief.
This explosive incident is just one in a series of shocking judicial controversies recently spotlighted by Bondi. She also detailed another disturbing case in New Mexico involving Judge Joel Cano and his wife, who were arrested for harboring a known member of the violent Venezuelan gang Trender Aragua (TDA).
“Judge Cano and his wife didn’t just harbor this individual—they actively destroyed evidence,” Bondi revealed, describing how the judge personally smashed the gang member’s cell phone to pieces and disposed of it to hinder law enforcement investigations. “This TDA member had photos of gruesome crimes, including decapitations, on his device. He was actively involved with known gang associates, and incredibly, Cano provided him with assault rifles.”
Bondi asserted that these events signify a troubling trend within parts of the judiciary, warning that judges who believe themselves above the law will face swift prosecution. “This is America, and nobody is above the law—least of all those entrusted to uphold it,” she firmly stated.
The Attorney General concluded her remarks by reiterating the administration’s commitment to justice and public safety, promising rigorous prosecution of anyone who compromises these foundational American principles. “We will prosecute vigorously. Judges, officials, or citizens—no one gets a pass,” Bondi emphasized, clearly signaling a tough stance against judicial misconduct.

Attorney General Pam Bondi is warning judges who dare to cross the Trump administration that they will be brought before the court themselves.
Bondi issued her threat after two judges were arrested for allegedly sheltering migrants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Las Cruces, New Mexico.
In a new escalation of the administration’s war on the judiciary, she insisted that judges are not above the law.
Speaking on Fox News’ America Reports, Bondi said: “What has happened to our judiciary is beyond me. The [judges] are deranged is all I can think of. I think some of these judges think that they are beyond and above the law. They are not, and we are sending a very strong message today. If you are harboring a fugitive, we will come after you and we will prosecute you. We will find you.”
“If you are obstructing justice,” she added, “it will not be tolerated.”
The attorney general was speaking out following the arrest on Friday of Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan for allegedly helping an illegal immigrant to avoid arrest by ICE agents. She was accused of taking the migrant, Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, out a side door. He was arrested later outside the courthouse.
Dugan has been charged with obstructing or impeding a proceeding before a department or agency of the U.S. and with concealing an individual to prevent his discovery or arrest. She was arraigned with a preliminary hearing set for May 15, then released.
Bondi also referred to the case of a former judge accused of allowing members of a Venezuelan gang to live on his property in New Mexico. Three men arrested at Joel Cano’s home in February were said to be members of the Tren de Aragua gang.
Cano reportedly resigned in March and is now barred from being a judge, according to KOAT Action News.
