NBA – “It’s because of this franchise that the league has become so boring!”
The least we can say is that the NBA has changed enormously in recent years. Lou Williams claims that this drastic evolution is primarily due to a specific franchise… and we can’t say that he’s really wrong.
To say that today’s NBA has nothing to do with that of the 2000s or even the early 2010s would be an understatement.
After all, the explosion of the three-point shot has fundamentally changed the way the game is played on American courts.
That said, the consequences of this are not all positive.
Recently, Draymond Green stepped up to the plate by claiming that the big league had become boring in his eyes.
A bold statement since he wears the colors of the Warriors… who have contributed the most to this change during the current decade.
A fact that Lou Williams was keen to remind him of on FanDuel TV:
Lou Williams responds bluntly to Draymond Green’s comments
You started it. The NBA is in this position because of the style of play that you brought to the league and that was successful.
As a result, the NBA, like all other leagues, is a copycat league.
When you see a team succeed at something, you want to try it yourself.
And sometimes, you don’t have the personnel to do the things that made you successful.
Today, we have a league where every team is making between 50 and 60 three-pointers a game because they are inspired by what the Golden State Warriors created.
So congratulate yourself, you are the originator of this style of play.
You were not the most physical basketball team.
You were very talented, you had a lot of talented players with a lot of skill.
The Golden State Warriors didn’t have a reputation for being a physical team.
They had a lot of skill.
They had guys that played great basketball, including Draymond.
So when is the physical game going to come back?
The physicality changed with the international players because they wanted them to adapt.
You can also go back further to when Shaquille O’Neal was a force to be reckoned with, and you had to put things in place to get him out of the paint because it was impossible for players to play because he was there.
So a lot has changed over the history of this game.
But the Golden State Warriors, like others, have to be grateful for where the game is right now, whether it’s positive or negative.
So I hear it, but again, it’s like turning a deaf ear. You guys are the ones who started it. That’s a fact.
It’s hard to argue with Lou Williams about the Warriors.
The Californians revolutionized the game with their increased use of the three-point shot while dominating for several years.
Proof that their method worked… even if it’s probably used far too much throughout the league these days.
