Anyone else seeing Bryce’s name pop up on LeBron James’ social media feeds too many times now? Well, it’s because the 40-year-old isn’t the only one who is going through a basketball tournament right now. Bryce James, who is currently playing for Sierra Canyon School before heading to the University of Arizona, is making progress through the ongoing Hoophall Classic. It was only a few days ago when the 17-year-old won the respect of his parents by securing the tournament’s MVP title for himself. Now, after an impressive performance, LeBron James has once again not chosen to stay silent.
The 40-year-old Lakers star was present during Sierra’s recent game. Good thing too, as Bryce certainly used the game to put on a memorable show. Shots from the 3-point line continuously kept coming in, as Bryce used every assist he got to not think for long, and just shoot. He did not waiver from all the shouts and boos that came in with each of his successful shots.
Simply being present to watch his son’s game may have not been enough for LeBron James. Therefore, he soon took to Instagram and highlighted Bryce’s highlights to be viewed by his 159 million followers. On top of that, he also wrote “Keep going up Maximus!!!! Work always prevails! @_justbryce.”
Savannah James, unfortunately, was not present for the game. Along with her and LeBron’s daughter Zhuri, the 38-year-old had recently embarked on a trip to South Korea. Through her social media updates, fans were able to get a glimpse of Savannah and Zhuri walking on the streets, shopping, enjoying the local delicacies, and even making a visit to a laboratory. The mother-daughter bonding time would have distracted Savannah from Bryce’s basketball run. Therefore, it was a good thing that LeBron covered for her by giving Bryce a double dose of confidence.
Though Savannah did not choose to send the praise this time, she did remember to do so after Bryce secured the MVP title. Highlighting the memorable moment on her Instagram story, she added a one-word caption, “Yyeeeeaaaaahhhhh!!”, to send her praise. LeBron James also followed suit, calling Bryce a “flame thrower”.
LeBron James’ youngest son has been slowly, yet steadily making his mark throughout the Hoophall Classic tournament. During the recent matchup against Grayson, Bryce James turned heads after making a career-high 16 points. He shot 6-10 during that game, including 4 three-pointers. His efforts played a major role in Sierra eventually securing the win by a 60-46 score. It seems that Bryce is doing his best to set a memorable legacy before heading off to college. Though LeBron James may no longer be in the NBA when his youngest son potentially arrives, his recent ‘Stephen Curry’ like performance may indicate a bright future for Bryce.
By looking at all the highlights, Savannah James may have wished that she was there for Bryce’s games. However, she can still show her support from afar. Furthermore, Bryce may already know that her mother’s support is there even if she does not show it, given how she becomes a ‘mother bear’ whenever she is present to watch his games.
Savannah James reportedly shouted at high-school player who teased Bryce James: “Watch your mouth”
Things got heated during one of Bryce James’ recent games, which Savannah James was attending. A rival player was reportedly teasing LeBron’s youngest son through an unspecified taunt. Being the son of a prominent NBA player, and younger brother of a Lakers rookie, Bryce is certainly no stranger to unwanted attention.
However, the situation got so bad that even Bryce’s teammates had to intervene, with some of them reportedly intentionally tripping the rival player. Meanwhile, Savannah did not choose to stay silent herself.
“Watch your mouth”, said the 38-year-old, as reported by Marca. Savannah even got up from her seat to hurl the defense. Fortunately, Bryce James was able to have his own come-back moment when he blocked one of the layups that the rival player was attempting. Though he indicated that he did not need it, it was still nice for Savannah to have Bryce’s back.
The upcoming years will determine just how far Bryce James can take his basketball prowess. It’s still too early to say whether success will bless him or not. No matter what, however, we know that Bryce will still continue receiving the support of both LeBron and Savannah.
